City to City Barcelona FAD Award 2012

The “City to City Barcelona FAD Award” was founded with the goal of connecting the FAD and Barcelona to other cities in the world and to establish that the clearly social component of design and architecture contributes to the improvement of people’s lives.
This is the third edition of the City to City Barcelona FAD Award, which was founded in 2008 with the intention of recognising on an international scale any urban experiences or actions -whether through public or private initiative- that have a positive and transforming effect on cities and their inhabitants.
On Tuesday 10 July at 19 h, the Prize-giving ceremony will take place in the Saló de Cent of Barcelona City Hall. With the inaugural address being delivered by the architect, engineer and director of the MIT Senseable City Lab, Carlo Ratti.
Winner: Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), for the «Rehabilitation Programme in the Favela Districts»
On Monday 9 July at 19 h, Conference at the FAD on the Rehabilitation Programme in the Favela Districts of Rio de Janeiro.
