The cities of Barcelona, Grigny, Gwangju, Mexico City, Utrecht and Vienna are launching an international call to invite 100 pioneer cities and territories to commit to human rights through a unique global campaign.

Human rights are at the center of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, which seeks to realize the human rights of all and leave no one behind. Each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) includes human rights from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the Local4Action track at UCLG’s World Congress in Daejeon, this topic takes center stage on Thursday, 13 October.

GPR2C: Members and allies initiatives for Urban October:
Every year, the Global Platform for the Right to the City (GPR2C) celebrates Urban October, an opportunity to raise our voices about our struggles and initiatives and to join forces for a better world. In 2022, Urban October will kick-off on Monday, 3 October with World Habitat Day and end on Monday, 31 October with World Day for the Right to the City, with the launching of our collective campaign “Reclaiming the Right to the City through Commoning”.

In the occasion of the UCLG Executive Bureau (13-15 June 2022), the UCLG-CSIPDHR organized a special session on the Global Campaign launched last February by the Co-presidency of the Committee: “10, 100, 1000 Human Rights Cities and Territories”.
First result of the Global Campaign “10,100,1000 Human Rights Cities and Territories by 2030”
On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day on 10 December, the UCLG-CSIPDHR published a report with the first results of the Global Campaign “10,100,100 Human Rights Cities and Territories by 2030”. The report provides an overview on the outreach process; on the cities joining the campaign; and on the key elements in terms of challenges and priorities emerged from the forms sent by the cities.
