In the framework of the MC2CM project, UCLG and its Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights, in partnership with UNICEF, are organizing an online seminar (webinar) on local challenges regarding the social inclusion of unaccompanied migrant minors. This webinar intends to offer a space for debate on this subject, as this is a major challenge shared by many local governments within the network.

This webinar will take place on July 31. A French version will be offered from 10:30 to 12:00 (CET) and an English one from 15:30 to 17:00 (CET).

This webinar will seek to better understand the priorities, diverse situations and actions carried out on this subject by local governments and civil society in the Euro-Mediterranean region and beyond. The areas explored will range from access to housing to non-discrimination, education or human rights safeguarding, as well as cooperation between different layers of governments and civil society stakeholders.

The webinar will consist of several presentations (local governments, UNICEF, civil society) and an open debate among participants. This will seek to raise awareness on both the challenges encountered as well as the policies implemented, all in a dynamic format.

In order to participate, we invite you to fill out the online registration form here. You are also invited to send us your suggestions and proposals regarding the contents of the webinar by sending an email to [email protected].

The concept note of the webinar is available online here.

Concerning the MC2CM project

The project “Migration City-to-City in the Mediterranean” (MC2CM) offers local authorities in the Euro-Mediterranean region the opportunity to exchange practices and participate in learning events focused on the governance of migration at the local level.

In recent years, it assessed topics like access to employment, housing or basic services, intercultural dialogue, human rights safeguarding or non-discrimination at the local level.

The UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights is involved in this project in order to raise awareness on practices based on human rights and the right to the city. Beyond local government, the MC2CM project brings together different experts, civil society organizations and stakeholders involved in migration governance.
