In line with the Pact for the Future for Planet, UCLG supports the walk it back initiative, a net-zero 4,000k walk from London to Istanbul
Craig Cohon, former executive, today CEO and founder of walk it back, pursues his walk throughout Europe to advocate for carbon removal. On 3 January, Cohon embarked on a 4,000km walk from London to Istanbul, where he will arrive in early June, on the eve of his 60th birthday. So far, he has walked through the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, as he is set to arrive in Berlin tomorrow.
Walking alongside him there are youth activists, mayors, CEOs, local climate experts and artists, aiming to revolutionize how carbon removal is perceived and supported globally: calling for greater dialogue, coordination, knowledge, governance and investment in the sector in order to safely and quickly scale carbon removal solutions.
In line with the Pact for the Future for Planet, UCLG supports the walk it back initiative to facilitate such dialogue with local officers throughout Mr. Cohon’s way. So far, he has met with local authorities including the Arnaud Ngatcha, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of international relations, Pascal Smet, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, or Monica Plate, Mayor of Hannover, and Steffen Krach, President of the Region of Hannover.
