26.05.2020

The fifth Report of the Global Observatory on Local Democracy and Decentralization (GOLD V) about the Localization of the Global Agendas, was officially launched in Durban at the November 2019 UCLG World Congress. Its latest edition is now available online in English, French and Spanish. For the first time, stand-alone publications have also been released in collaboration with UCLG sections to increase dissemination and outreach.

The GOLD V Report is the result of a three-year participatory process which brought together the expertise of researchers from different regions, the work and feedback of all UCLG regional sections, committees and partners, as well as the direct contribution of local and regional governments and their national associations and networks.

The Report provides an in-depth analysis of the degree of implementation of the global agendas–notably the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals–at the local and regional levels in each world regions, and in particular how decentralization and multilevel governance contribute to this process. The full report and the executive summaries are now available in their latest edition in English, French and Spanish here.

In addition, regional and thematic chapters of the GOLD V Report have been produced as stand-alone publications in collaboration with UCLG Africa, UCLG ASPAC, CEMR, CORDIAL, UCLG MEWA and Metropolis. These regional publications are available in different languages to provide UCLG sections with useful tools for disseminating their region’s specific findings and engaging in discussions within their own constituency of local and regional governments.

The last week of May also featured the coordinated launch of the regional publications on social media by UCLG World Secretariat together with UCLG sections. It was an opportunity to share key messages and policy recommendations extracted from the different regional and thematic publications of the GOLD V Report.

With the UN High Level Political Forum in sight, UCLG will continue to track and report on local and regional governments’ efforts to localize the global agendas around the world. Do not miss our forthcoming Towards the Localization of the SDGs’ Report!
