Save the Date: 3rd UCLG Intermediary Cities Forum, Cuenca, 23-24 January 2025

14.06.2024

On January 23-24, 2025, the third World Forum of Intermediary Cities will take place, hosted by the city of Cuenca (Ecuador). After hosting the Continental Forums of Intermediary Cities in 2022 and 2018, showing the city’s commitment to the UCLG Forum of Intermediary Cities, this edition of the Forum hosted by Cuenca will be global and will advance the process that began in Chefchaouen.

The UCLG Forum of Intermediary Cities is a mechanism for consultation and policy development that culminates in an event every two years. The Forum, conceived as a policy consultation process, is chaired by the city of Chefchaouen with the support of a political committee of intermediary cities.

The process of the World Forum of Intermediary Cities is conceived as a participatory roadmap, with regional and global consultations accompanying and feeding the final Declaration of the World Forum, as was the case for the Chefchaouen Declaration in 2018, and that of Kutahya in 2021.

In preparation for this new edition of the World Forum, the first regional consultation took place on May 29 and 30, 2023 in Tandil, with the presence of local government networks from Latin America and supported by Flacma and Mercociudades, and more will take place throughout 2024.

The cities of Chefchouen and Cuenca, their Mayors Mohammed Sefiani and Cristian Zamora Matute, as well as United Cities and Local Governments UCLG invite you to reserve the date of this important Forum that will bring substantial points, especially in view of the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, and in order to influence the G20 agenda.
