Fostering metropolitan cooperation for sustainable urban development

The Montréal Thematic Meeting on Metropolitan Areas that will take place in Montréal, Canada, on October 6-7, 2015, will bring together the international community representing Member States, metropolitan area institutions, cities and international civil society to address the importance of developing cooperation and planning mechanisms for metropolitan areas.
The Montréal Thematic Meeting on Metropolitan Areas that will take place in Montréal, Canada, on October 6-7, 2015, will bring together the international community representing Member States, metropolitan area institutions, cities and international civil society to address the importance of developing cooperation and planning mechanisms for metropolitan areas.
The Montréal Meeting aims at recognizing the significant contribution of metropolitan areas to sustainable development under the New Urban Agenda that will be adopted at the Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) to be held in Quito in 2016.
In preparation of the meeting, a Zero Draft version of the Declaration is available for reflection and discussion purposes. The participants in the Montréal Meeting can comment on the Zero Draft Declaration on the e-Discussion platform until September 13, 2015.
