Launch of the MOOC: Acting Against Food Insecurity at All Levels
26.06.2025

In 2025, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the Let’s Food association co-developed a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) dedicated to policies aimed at combating food insecurity and the available levers for action at different territorial levels: local, national, and international.
This online course is based on a study conducted in 2024 ([read the publication here), which presented ten case studies illustrating the common challenges faced by local and regional governments in their fight against food insecurity. These concrete examples helped identify a set of effective policy levers and solutions already implemented on the ground, resulting in a series of recommendations to sustainably strengthen food security.
The MOOC we are offering today builds on these challenges and recommendations. It provides a clear framework for understanding, practical tools, and concrete resources to help local and regional governments design, adapt, and strengthen their food policies.
The course includes:
The training path is structured around three chapters:
Understanding the key concepts related to food security, Identifying the main causes of food insecurity in a territory, Exploring proven and adapted solutions to address them. Each chapter combines educational videos, testimonials from field actors, infographics, explanatory diagrams, interactive quizzes, and other materials designed to facilitate learning and content ownership.
