Cities Alliance changes headquarters to Brussels
12.09.2013
Cities Alliance is one of the UCLG partners for influencing on local and regional needs in the global development agenda.
Thirteen years ago, the World Bank and UN-Habitat launched the Cities Alliance with a bold mission: improve the lives of the hundreds of millions of people living in slums around the world. With the World Bank as its incubator, Cities Alliance set ambitious goals and grew into an effective partnership for slum upgrading. Today, it is in a position to move out on its own.
The last day at this World Bank’s organization was set on Washington was Friday 3th August. The farewell was on the 21st August, when the Cities Alliance hosted a reception to “Thank the Bank” for being the host and partner for 13 years. Here you can watch the Video Testimonial,
On September 2, the Cites Alliance Secretariat moved to Brussels under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with the Bank taking an observer role. The move comes as part of the natural evolution of the partnership.
The temporary offices are situated at Schuman Circle, a very central location, opposite the European Commission, and close to the Parc Cinquantenaire.
