Frédéric Vallier was reappointed secretary general of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), on 25 and 26 June 2015, on the occasion of the CEMR Policy committee meeting in Munich.
Following the Executive bureau’s proposal, Policy committee members unanimously approved Frédéric Vallier’s mandate to be renewed for 6 years. This second mandate will start on 1 February 2016.
On this occasion, Frédéric Vallier called to set new partnerships to strengthen the influence of local government and their associations at the European level: «Beyond our political differences – which are an opportunity for our organisation – the common battle for a Europe based on responsible and respected local and regional governments, is a battle that pursues a more efficient Europe; a battle that will restore confidence in the European project and that will bring the continent out of the crisis.«
